As the company has progressed, its role as an engineering pioneer has solidified. Mercedes has been a leader in the creation of seatbelt advancements, traction control systems, automatic accident prevention and response technology dubbed Attention Assist and Pre-Safe, and engine developments ranging from BlueTEC diesels to high-powered gasoline burners destined for one of the many AMG models.
Designed to compete with vehicles such as the BMW 3 Series and is Lexus IS the Mercedes C-Class. Powerful Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG takes on the Lexus IS F and BMW M3, among others. C-Class offers just a taste of the Mercedes lineup, which includes the larger Mercedes-Benz E-Class, the top-notch Mercedes S-Class, and the coupe-like Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class. There are also a host of coupes and convertibles bearing the Mercedes badge: Mercedes-Benz CL-Class, Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class, Mercedes-Benz SL-Class, Mercedes-Benz SLK-Class, and the rare Mercedes-Benz SLR-Class (better known as the SLR McLaren).
Mercedes cars is a smattering of utility vehicles, starting with the small Mercedes-Benz GLK-Class. This slots in under the well-known Mercedes M-Class, the wagon-like Mercedes R-Class, the boxy Mercedes-Benz G-Class, and the attractive Mercedes GL-Class.
